Spirit Lake
Located in the Watson River Valley, eight kilometres north of
Carcross, this colourful lake drains into the Watson River. Well-known
for its lake trout fishing, it was called "Mbédé
Méne" (rainbow/trout lake) or "Looge Zhaazhe"
(little fish) in the language of the native Tagish people. The
first usage of Spirit Lake was during World War II, when the beauty
of the colourful lake was said to exemplify the spirit of the
                north.
